October 31- Ruth

Woke up at 3 am this morning to Jean's calls. Jean had a massive bowel explosion in bed and needed help getting to the toilet this morning. The episode went on for over 2 hours, very loose stools that were continuous. We decided after an hour, that Jean needed some anti diarrhea medication. Once she got off of the toilet, I got her into the shower to clean her up completely. Both of us made it back to bed by 5:30am and Bill promised he would let us sleep a little later than usual. He kept his promise and didn't turn on the TV until 9:49am. Breakfast was ready by 10:30am.

At 11am Cookie waltzed in, I left her a very detailed voicemail about why visiting us would not be a good idea. She didn't call back so I was really surprised when she walked in. I said good morning and she sat down with Bill and Jean. Jean and Cookie visited for about an hour and half at which point I had to remind Jean that it was time to get ready to go. As she was leaving she mentioned to Jean not to forget their plans for Wednesday the 7th. I looked at the calender and noticed that Jean had written Cookie down for 11am.

Got Jean ready, Bill had already showered on his own without prompting. We were out of the house by 1:10pm off to Dr. Campbell's. Talked to Wedad, she let me know that she would be coming in this afternoon to sit with Jean while I took Bill to his appointment. We got back home at 2:30pm, Wedad arrived, Bill and I left at 3pm. Joan met us at the Doctor's and all of us went in for the procedure, which turned out to be relatively simple and much shorter than expected. The scheduled 2 hour appointment ended up being 40 minutes at the most. The results of the tests will be given to Dr. Khaled and the information will be relayed to us at a later date.

After Dr. Khaled, Bill and I stopped at Starbucks for an Iced Decaf americano and and 3 shots of espresso. CVS after that to pick up candy, lotion, toothpaste, night creams, toilet paper etc. for Jean. I also returned one of the thumb braces that we bought last week.

Got home and Wedad told me the gatehouse called to tell us that the trolley would not be stopping by, the driver says that they can not maneuver our driveway and therefore would not be stopping by. Got back in the car and went back to CVS to return the candy, minus the reese's peanut butter cups.
Wedad asked Jean what she wanted for dinner and Jean requested Mexican, Wedad ordered Macayo's.

Updates- Nov. 15- Dr. Marwan Bahu- i will put time and location later. good night.

October 30 Ruth

Came in early today to help get Bill and Jean ready for the Dr. Khaled appointment. Wedad gave me the wonderful news that she was able to stay with Jean this afternoon so that I could take Bill to the appointment. Thank You Wedad it was a big help.

I met Joan at Dr. Khaled's and he has his defibrillator checked by a representative of St. Jude. Bill, Joan and I were then accosted by Dr. Khaled for not bringing Bill in sooner. Apparently Bill should be seen every 3 months and hasn't been seen since 5/06. This was news to Joan, Bill and myself. Dr. Khaled suggested that we do a full scale evaluation of Bill's heart and will begin the first set of testing tommorrow. At 3:20pm Bill will have an echo cardiogram for 2 hours, Wedad will come in to stay with Jean and Joan will meet Bill and I at the office.

Coumadin levels were way high and his dosage is cut for tonight, 0mg tonight, 3mg tomorrow and 6mg Thursday. On Friday Bill has a mandatory Farooqui appointment set for 10:30am November 2, he must go to this appointment to have his Coumadin checked. As far as the Coumadin goes, I never have any luck with the machine we have at the house, Wedad also continually gets error messages when she tries to use it. If it has become too cumbersome to check his Coumadin and Blood sugar levels then I vote to take Bill to Dr. Farooqui's every Wednesday to have his levels checked in the office. That way Dr. F. is aware of the numbers and then can alter the medication as he sees fit.

A troubling thing about Dr. Farooqui that should be noted: Today Dr. Khaled gave us a read out of all the days and times that Bill's defib. was "abort-shocking, " to me the dates and times that he read coincided with the days and times Bill was getting his hot flashes. I remember taking Bill and Jean to Dr. F the last time Bill got a hot flash and Dr. F simply attributed the hot flashes to old age. He said "Bill's body is not able to cool it self off because he is getting old." I find it troublesome that Dr. F never suggested that Bill may need to visit Dr. Khaled, on that occasion or any occasion there after.

When Bill and I arrived home I briefed Wedad on what happened at Dr. Khaled's and then we called Jennifer to let her know the serious nature of our visit. Both Wedad and Jennifer had never heard of Bill needing to go every 3 months, both were as shocked by that bit information as Joan and I.

Placed a grocery order, called Cookie to cancel her "visit," she apparently snuck in a phone call on Wedad's shift and scheduled a time to visit. Unfortunately we are way too busy tomorrow to deal with her. Question for the group??? Cookie only comes around on my shift because I allow her to make plans with us. In my opinion, I thought that I was appeasing her, prior to this month is was only lunches, dinners and teas. This month she went shopping with Jean one day, and from what I am hearing she has caused quite a lot of grief. I am all for completely ignoring her if we stand as a united front, she uses me to get to Jean and then causes trouble for everyone, by bad mouthing all us behind our back. I know that I am ranting, but, what shall we do??
Called the gatehouse and got Lot 92 ON the list for the Trick or Treat Trolley. We need to buy candy and cinder blocks tomorrow.

Thursday Joanie

I asked you guys to identify yourselves and then I didn't do it. Sorry. I also went to AJ's tracking down those apples. Not as good as they sounded, imho. A little sour tasting? Sure not honey! I adore the flowers...they are wonderful!

I will go to Dr. Khaled's on Tuesday at 1:20. Thanks for sending me directions.

Who is working Thanksgiving?

Thanks for the report...it really does help. Joanie

Oct.23 and 24 Ruth

Wedad out/Ruth In- Wedad thoroughly filled me in on what has been going on for the week. She told me everything was fairly quiet except for some confusion about the new thumb brace John insists Jean needs. Wedad told me that she didn't have a chance to take Jean to get fitted for the new brace, because of John appointments on Monday, so I needed to take her. Wedad also told me that we were out of alot of the grocery basics. Said goodbye to Wedad and went in to say hello to Bill and Jean, both looked content, but Jean is very worried about Dudley and the wildfires in California, it was the first thing she told me about. She also asked about my boys, I told her 2 weeks ago that they were traveling to the East Coast for a tournament and she asked me how they did. It was great that she remembered such a thing over a long period of time.

I then made lunch, boiled some eggs for egg salad sandwiches, it took some time so lunch wasn't served until 3pm. Both quiet until dinner, attempt to make a steak in the oven with mushroom sauce, big mistake!!! The meat was really tough, Bill and Jean ate the baked potato and veggies instead. After dinner- Jean called Matt Nisson to check on his family and Peggy. They are fine. She then called Don and Dodo Kennedy, they are also fine. We tried to reach Dudley but the circuits were down and out of commission. Back to their room, nothing was on TV so we put a DVD in that was from Netflix. Lights out by 10pm.

Breakfast- hash browns, scrambled eggs, pancakes, cinnamon rolls... coffee, apple juice. Fleming's pest control came by. Jean and I made up a grocery list and Jean decided we should stop at AJ's at some point to get HoneyCrisp Apples that she read about in the newspaper, also wanted ham salad, chicken salad and lamb chops. I placed a Safeway order as well, will be delivered on Thursday morning.
After ordering groceries, I made a quick lunch and got Jean in the shower. Jean is a bit wobbly on her feet today, she noticed as well and I asked her if she was sure she wanted to go out today and she said "of course." Got her to wear her jeans today and I put the foot brace on her with the special shoes so that she would stay as balanced as possible. I asked Bill to take a shower and told him I was going downstairs to get ready. I went downstairs and heard him turn on the shower, (didn;t bother to shave or brush his teeth), got in the shower and washed for about 20 seconds. This is becoming a chronic problem, he refuses to take a decent shower, any suggestions??? Helped him button his pants, went to pull the car out of the garage and made a quick phone call to the Arthritis office that we were headed to. I asked for Micheal, to tell him that we were on our way and he wanted to give me corner by corner directions from Clearwater to his office, he got real snippy with me when I told him I only wanted the cross streets. He was really rude. We got to the office, he helped Jean with the "glove" made of neoprene and not much else and decided that it wouldn't be beneficial for Jean, referred us to CVS pharmacy at Scottsdale and Shea. Went to CVS, I ran in and bought 2 different types, I will show both to John and return whichever we don;t need.
Went to the Bamboo Club for dinner, then to AJ's, Jean saw some really cute flowers for Joan we had them wrapped and we delivered them to Skip and Joan;s after.
Home

Upcoming---
October 30 - 1:20 pm-- Dr. Khaled's for Bill-- Jennifer I need the Coumadin numbers to take with me.
October 31-1:30pm Dr. Campbell's for Bill and Jean. I will also call Dr. Lesueur office to try to get Jean in, there is a spot near her eye that looks like a red pimple, she says she has had it for a week or so and it is itchy. It could be a bug bite or something else, she is due for her check up so we will try to get in on Wednesday.
November 11- Grace's B-Day party- invitation is upstairs and details are written in the calender.

JOAN- I will email the new directions for Dr. Khaled's office to you.

No phone calls from the COOKSTER.... and we are busy next week, so there should be no plans in the works..

thank you so much

for all the info. This really helps us a lot. I will pass this on to Chris and Skip to make sure they are current on what is going on.

Could you do one more thing? Identify yourself...when you put in the dates would you mind putting your name next to it? It helps me identify who is talking.

Any input on Bill Sr.'s shortness of breath? Thaaankyouuuuu.

October 19/20/21

Weekend was pretty quite, arrived on Friday to find Jean completely ready, house clean and groceries about to arrive. Bill only needed to be prompted to get ready. Jeans eyes were really bad, watery, dry and red. I see Melissa had been trying anything to get her comfortable, cold wash clothes, benadryl, eye drops, avoided eye makeup. She seemed miserable and her r cheek looked swollen as if she had a sinus infection, she had no green drainage, but upon occluding her R nare she couldn't blow in or out. I laid her down on the bed with Head of pillow propped up and heat pack on R cheek/eye area. We still had 2 hours left to resolve this and I figured Bill was the only one not ready. Long story short, Jean didn't want to go and asked that we call Joan or Andrew, Jean said to Bill do you want to go and he said NO! that's too late for dinner I am hungry now.. they proceeded to argue about him wanting to go only to eat or to see Andy for his bday. I called Joan had her talk to Jean . Andy called his grandparents, which was really great as it made Jean feel less guilty about not going. Hopefully he will schedule a day to come and have lunch or dinner with them.

Made dinner, Melissa stayed and put away all groceries, cleaned up from Jeans shower and helped prepare evening routine.

Jean /Bill ate, had dessert, took all pills, I had Jean rub some Vick's under her R nare, and use her eye drops she said her eyes were less itchy.

They went to bed about 930 after murder she re wrote over and over lol

Saturday AM

Jean and Bill both up at 830 out to kitchen, made eggs and cereal and toast both reading news paper talking about new development in front of where Skip and Joan now live.

Jean wanted a shower, cleaned up bedroom, refilled tissues, emptied garbage's, TONS ans TONs of papers torn out of magazines that Jean wanted me to call Cookie so they can go shopping.

I told her I did call but I didn't call her, as Cookie only seems to pop up during the pre holiday shopping time. Spoke to Joan about it and she said always a caregiver must be with them, I explained that Cookie is cleaver and may make plans under the guise of all of them going out then change it in front of Jean to "how about you and I go get some lunch and window shop"

which means the caregiver on duty cant always interject "No we have to come" as this results in a battle to maintain independence for Jean.

Cleaned up house, finished all laundry, aired out house especially their room, turned up a/c to 83 since it was so nice, didn't need it on. Bill mad that his door is open and air coming in room, but it really needed it.

Fresh water for both, set up for Jeans shower,

showered Jean and lotioned her, put on new clothes, I too have a really hard time doing her hair, I have no idea how Liz cut it, and I remember the picture but that person had very diff hair than Jean, and I can never get it with the boy side part and an extreme "bump" flipped over without practically burning her ear off!.

rest of day uneventful.. both relaxed Jean and I came out to living room to look at her Halloween decorations.. she's planning Christmas already lol

Sunday-- both up at 9am made pancakes and poached eggs, fresh cut up banana with peaches

reading Sunday paper

I cleaned up house, finished all downstairs laundry all sheets and blankets

fixed up their bedroom, cleaned up her desk but she didn't want me to move on ad she pulled.

emptied all garbage. ran dishwasher, refilled her pack of briefs.

restocked OJ and mocha mix

Both wanted fried eggs with ketchup on toast for lunch

Ice tea and Hershey for jean

Told Jean I may bring Twins by to see her as she missed them.

ps found a scorpion killed it at top of stairs! need to call Fleming

Bill Sr.

Good Morning, Ladies. I have a question for you. Bill Sr. seems to be becoming increasingly SOB and unable to walk any distance at all. Have any suggestions as to what we might do here? Does he need to see Dr. Khaled? Could John be doing something to help this? The last time I discussed this with Dr. Farooqui, he said it was the congestive heart failure and that not much could be done. Any input here? Any input would be appreciated. I am glad to help and deal with this aggressively rather than just let it decline. Thanks, Joanie

October 9,10,11

Wedad out/Ruth in- Wedad filled me in on what was happening here at the house over the last week. Everything was quiet except for some confusion about a dinner with Cookie on Sunday night. Cookie ended up canceling, but their was some confusion about the details of the dinner and it is my fault for not updating the calender. Wedad also told me that the electricity had just come back on after being out for a few hours. Jay was here when I arrived and let me know that the a/c filters were checked and they do not need to be changed, he also replaced some light bulbs around the house. I made Bill and Jean lunch, both ate well. Wedad told me that she had checked the messages on Tuesday and there was an message left on the phone from Sunday from Betsy Martin about B-Day girls at the Biltmore on Wednesday. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to plan B-day girls and we had a prior commitment on Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday-Jean was up at 6:00am, she wanted to take a shower and get dressed. I reminded her that we were not leaving until later in the day and that it wasn't time to get ready quite yet. I made breakfast, cleaned up their room, made the beds, emptied trash cans,, refilled toilet paper and depends. After breakfast I gave Jean a shower, applied her make-up, and attempted to style her hair. This new style that she wants with the "bounce" and "bump" is so difficult to do. I am having a hard time using a curling iron on her very short hair. Does anyone have any suggestions??? After Jean was dressed and ready to go, I asked Bill to take a shower and get dressed. We were out of the house by 12:20pm. Took Bill and Jean to the nail salon, Jean got a manicure/pedicure and Bill got a manicure. After nails, we went to the Phoenician for afternoon tea. Met Cookie at the Phoenician, Cis couldn't make it. The tea was much more enjoyable at the Phoenician in comparison to the Ritz Carlton. The atmosphere was more serene and laid back, service was much better and the food was delicious. Bill and Jean thoroughly enjoyed their time. After tea, we drove over to Bridwell's gas, to have the tires checked and the tanked filled. I don't know if the Caddy has a faulty sensor, but the warning light is always coming on for low tire pressure. After gas, we went to the toy store Kidstop to pick up Jean's second Piano... shhhh it is a Christmas gift for Grace and Katherine. Jean decided to pick up some birthday gifts for Grace and some gifts for Katherine. While the staff was busy wrapping the gifts, Jean spotted a tea cart, and then wanted tea cups and service. Everything was loaded in the car, wrapped gifts and extra piano are now in her dressing room. After the toys store we stopped at Coffee Bean, sat inside and drank our coffee. We stayed at the coffee bean for a good 45 minutes, got home around 6:30pm.
Spoke to Charlae, who will come to give Jean a massage this weekend and spoke to Joan. Joan will be out of commission for the next week, so she asked for the bills. The Maroney's bill was high. She asked me to call them and verify that it is the correct amount. All else quiet.
Thursday. Jean slept well, Bill not so much. Breakfast, paper.
Called Maroney's, they say the total is correct, they were a few very large deliveries, a lot of it was stuff that hadn't been dry cleaned since coming back from Rancho.
Called the Pharmacy to get a delivery of Depends, running low on Lunesta too. Pharmacy will not refill until the 19th, so the pharmacist suggests supplementing with OTC sleep aids.
Called Mane Attraction- they called to let us know Jean has an appointment with them today. I told Joanna that she saw Liz last week.
Melissa needs to call Skip and make sure they are still on for tomorrow.

October 2 and 3

Wedad out/Ruth in- Wedad called me out home to let me know we were running really low on supplies, I told her I would pick up the necessaries on my way in. Wedad was in a jovial, talkative mood for a fasting person, had a nice chat with her about the weekend and any plans that were coming up during the week. Wedad was preparing lunch when I walked in, I took Bill and Jean's lunch in while Wedad packed up her things. Said hello to Bill and Jean, and asked them if they wanted anything special from the grocery store. Bill requested the snickers ice cream bars, Jean wanted some crescent rolls that come in the tube.
Afternoon quiet, Jean reading catalogs, napping, Bill watching TV. Placed grocery order. Plenty of OJ, Mocha Mix, Bread, coffeecake, sweet and low etc.
Prepared dinner, while Jean sat in the kitchen reading. Meatloaf, mac and cheese, petite peas, dinner rolls, berry blossoms for dessert. I turned down the beds while Bill and Jean ate dinner, and started on the medication. Finished 4 weeks worth of pills for Jean, will do Bill's tomorrow. Quiet all night- TV off at 10pm.

Jean up at 7am- wanting a shower. I gave her a shower but reminded her that she wasn't leaving the house until 1pm. Helped her get dressed and told her that I was going to go and make breakfast cause Bill was getting hungry. Fifteen minutes later she called me to help her with her make up. I told her that we would do her hair and make up after breakfast, otherwise it would melt off before she left. She agreed and came into the kitchen to read the paper and drink apple juice. Made scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast, cinnamon rolls, sliced nectarines and honeydew melon. Decaf Bill. Cleaned up their room, made beds, open the sliding glass door, to air out the room. Once Jean was finished she was back in the bathroom ready to get her hair and make up done. She is ready to go by 10am- Cookie will be here at 1pm-
Calls:
Skip called- Bill and Jean have an appointment next Friday the 12Th with their Attorney- Skip will swing by to pick them up, and then lunch after. He did not specify whether or not, one of us need to accompany him, he didn't make that clear, but I would assume that Melissa is going as well.
Christine called- She is looking for a pith helmet and a safari outfit. I told her about a snakeskin/leopard print shirt and a vest/ pants outfit of Jean's. Chris will swing by this afternoon to pick them up.
Cookie here at 1pm- Jean asked her a week ago to go shopping with her. Both headed to Kohl's Micheal's and Saks.
Chris stopped by to pick up the items, she hung out for awhile and we all had a nice chat.
Cookie and Jean back.. they went to Kohl's, Penney's, and Walgreen's.... I have all receipts and the damage is MINOR.
Groceries here at 6pm...
Cookie asked Jean about dinner plans on Sunday- She and Bob will come here to pick Bill and Jean up and go out to dinner around 2 or 3pm.
Jean suggested that we have tea again next week.. we will see about that.

9/30-10/1

9/30: Arrived on Sunday to find Jean in her bathroom attempting to put on more make-up. Seems very aggitated today. Yelling about a cut-out from a magazine that she wants her hair done like. Already had a shower but managed to put more hair products in her hair. Got her dressed and hair as close to her description as possible. The whole time she yelled at Bill for not getting ready sooner. Jean was even more anxious to leave, even walking to the car when we not even ready to go. Both had an enjoyable dinner with Skip, Jean relaxed a little and eased up (just a bit) on Bill. Skip noticed that Jean has not been remembering things as much as before. She forgot that she had spoken with Skip and cancelled their previous plans.

Arrived home and had them change into night-time clothes. Jean and Bill washed up. Beds turned down. Hung up all their clothes, no stains (did not put in dry cleaning). Both wanted some dessert, we were out of ice cream so instead they had little pastries and coffee. Both stayed up and watched tv until 9:45pm. Lights out.

Both slept through the night - Jean talked quite a bit, but not as loud as usual.

10/1: Bill up at 8:40am, had OJ and Banana, rested back in his room-wanted to wait a little for breakfast. Jean woke up @ 9:30am. Had breakfast-Fried eggs, toast, slice of pumpkin bread, sliced cantaloupe, juice, and coffee. Both ate all of their breakfast. While eating, cleaned bedroom-made beds, emptied trash, fresh ice water, and bathroom. Both back in their bedroom, watching Matlock.

Lunch @ 2pm, Turkey-cheese-tomatoe on whole grain bread. Baked chips, sliced nectarines/apples with dopple of sour cream. Bill asked for Tomatoe Juice with a couple shots of tobasco sauce. Jean had a glass of K20 Protien water, really likes it. John came at 230pm, a little early. Brought over new equipment that they ordered, fixed to laundry room door. Wrote out a check for the equipment.

John left, refreshed Bills drink and Jean's. Jean changed, resting now.

Asked Bill what he was in the mood for, wanted prime rib. Yeah not something I can typically cook in two hours-or something we would have on hand. Jean said she was in the mood for it as well. Looked through delivery catalogue and found one restaurant that has it. Ordered from Busters. Bill and Jean devoured it. Jeans appetite really up lately, which is good. Had prime rib (au jous), baked potato, steamed veggies, fried zucchini, salad. Ate almost all of their meals (SHOCKER). Afterwards wanted ice cream, again we dont have any, so they both decided on fudge pops-Bill ate two!!

After dinner showered Jean. Washed Bill up for bed, didnt want to-but finally gave with Jean insisting. Changed their clothes and resting. Fresh ice water, turned down beds, now watching a movie. Lights out @ 930pm.

Jean mumbled a bit during the night, but let Bill sleep.

10/2: Bill up at 815, Jean up at 915am. Asked for cream of wheat.
Breakfast: cream of wheat, sliced melon, toast, banana bread, juice, banana, coffee.

While they we eating cleaned their bedrooms. Changed Jeans sheets, had a urine smell. emptied trash cans, fresh ice water. Opened the doors to air the room a little.

Jay stopped by, changed lights throughout living room, hung clock on wall. Took trash out for us. Jeans foot acting up, helped her back to room, where she had it elevated. Found brace and placed it by the bed, so when she needs it. Cleaned kitchen, emptied dishwasher-cleaned table, floor and mopped.

Made appointment for Jean to see Liz, who moved to a new salon. She really likes her and wants to see her at least once. Spoke with Melissa, made appointment for thursday @ 4pm. Will try the place out one time, and see how it goes.

Tried to place grocery order on 9/30 but could not because I could not locate the cc. Found out the next day where the cards were. Spoke with Ruth and told her the necessities that we are needing, she will pick them up before she comes in today.
