Bill Sr. Cardiology Results

Bill Sr.'s shortness of breath is caused by his heart not squeezing adequately. This has two causes. One is blockage of the arteries and the other is that his valves are leaking a small amount. If you would like more details, I will gladly give them to you, but the bottom line is that Bill needs to have an angiogram done 1/14. This will involve putting in a small baloon and opening up the arteries. They will also put in a stent (mesh tube) to keep the arteries open. The *expected* result is that he will get more oxygen and all of him will work better. He should take less falls, be more alert, be able to cross a room without becoming SOB (for purposes of this email, this stands for short of breath, not Sweet Old Bill).

1. Dr. Kahled has scheduled the angiogram for Scottsdale North. Bill will be in the hospital overnight. Can one of you stay with Jean and one with Bill?

2. Please make an appointment with Dr. Bahu for the first week in January to have his pacemaker/defibrillator RE-checked to make sure that he is ok for this surgical procedure.

3. Please call Dr. Kahled 1/7 and get instructions re: medicines that must be stopped before the procedure. My understanding is that you talk directly with the doctor.

4. Please take Bill the week of 1/1/08 and have the lab work done. Ruth has the paperwork, given to her by Kahled's office this morning.

5. NO SALT. NO salty foods, no anything that might make him retain fluids.

6. Dr. Kahled would like Bill to lose 10-20 pounds before the procedure.

7. Dr. Kahled says Bill can do NO EXERCISE.

8. Bill has a new prescription that will strengthen his upper heart for this procedure. It should also alleviate some of the SOB.

Could you please make the appointments, etc. and let me know when they are? I will be there. Thank you ladies. We all appreciate every one of you. Joanie
